MINIMAL
The book presents several dozen architectural solutions that architects have designed to improve and achieve quality living in a small space.
Due to the ever-decreasing availability of home ownership, the area in which we will live is also shrinking, especially in large cities. The book reflects the latest procedures, knowledge, and solutions with which architects design apartments in rental and apartment buildings. By a small apartment we mean apartments with a floor area of up to 40 m2, and by architectural solutions we mean work with space, light, specific materials, and technologies, which we demonstrate on examples mostly from the Czech Republic. By the nature of their profession, an architect and an interior designer bring their clients individuality, originality, and above all a functional and ergonomic solution.
The book is divided into several functional sections: in addition to long interviews about contemporary housing and its parameters, we also look at aspects of contemporary rental housing with theorists, researchers, and sociologists.
In the second part of the book, the authors selected 60 solutions and procedures, presented by their authors: Czech and foreign architects. They show on specific apartments the work with materials, light, height, and width of the given space. Our new book is not a manual for DIY furnishing or apartment renovation. It is a manual on how to think “minimally”.
Who is the reader: layperson with an interest in housing, young family, architect, interior designer
